According to their scale, emergencies can be classified into:

1. 
   local, as a result of which the territory where the emergency situation took place and living conditions of people are disturbed ( further - emergency zone) does not extend beyond the territory of the facility, whereas the number of people who died or suffered health damage ( further - number of injured) is not;
   
2. 
   object, as a result of which the emergency area does not extend beyond the territory of a single settlement or inner-city area of a city of federal significance, and the number of injured persons between 10-100;
   
3. 
   municipal, as a result of which the area of an emergency situation affects the territory of two or more settlements, inner-city territories of a city of federal significance, or inter-settlement territory, and the number of injured persons is not more than 1000;
   
4. 
   regional, covers several industrial or agricultural areas, the city as a whole and its surroundings;as a result of which the number of injured persons is between 1000-25000;
   
5. 
   federal, events that cover a large area of the republic, but do not extend beyond the administrative boundaries of the state; as a result of which the number of injured persons is between 25000-1000000;
   
6. 
   global, it is not limited to the territory of one country, but extends to the territory of neighbouring states; as a result of which the number of injured persons is more than 1000000.
   

ES by the stage of severity:
Severe ES of the first level - almost no particular concern, some of which, such as the short-lived downpours pouring down the streets of large cities, are remembered as an interesting episode.
Severe ES of the secondary level - anxiety, nervousness, etc., which is considered a bad thing in most of the population.
Catastrophe disaster of the third level is a catastrophe in the full sense of the word, whose social and psychological situation has changed significantly.
