рин”  и  балет  “Читра”,  в  четвертой – фортепианные  пьесы 
композитора, в пятой – основные особенности его исполни-
тельства,  в  шестой – связи  Ниязи  с  турецкой  музыкальной 
культурой. (Автор  раздела – кандидат  искусствоведения 
С.Агаева). 
Двенадцатый  раздел  посвящается  композитору  Сеиду 
Рустамову.  
В  первой  главе  описываются  жизнь  и  характеристика 
творчества  Сеида  Рустамова,  во  второй – песенное  творче-
ство,  в  третьей – музыкальные  комедии,  в  четвертой – ин-
струментальные произведения, в пятой и шестой рассматри-
ваются  его  дирижерская  и  педагогическая  деятельность,  в 
седьмой – С.Рустамов  и  народная  музыка  (Автор  раздела – 
доктор искусствоведения Ш.Гасанова). 
В последнем тринадцатом разделе представлено творче-
ство  А.Рзаевой.  Жизнь  и  творчество – в  первой  главе,  во 
второй – песенное творчество и сочинения в других жанрах 
(Автор раздела кандидат искусствоведения Х.Бабаева). 
Далее приводятся резюме на русском и английском язы-
ках,  сведения  об  авторах  и  использованная  литература  (на 
азербайджанском, русском и других языках).

SUMMARY 
 
The second volume of the “History of Azerbaijan music” is 
dedicated to the investigation of musical art of Azerbaijan at the 
beginning of the XX century. In the book there is noted the great 
role of the composer as an important phenomenon in the 
creation and construction of the new national musical culture. In 
the book there is presented composer’s school created at the 
beginning of the XX century on the basis of the centuries-old 
musical culture of Azerbaijan. 
The period of history of Azerbaijan music considered here is 
connected with the names of such great and famous composers 
as Uzeyir Hajybayli, Muslim Magomayev, Zulfugar Hajybayov, 
Asaf Zeynally, Afrasiyab Badalbayli, Said Rustamov, Niyazi 
and well-known Russian soviet composer M.P.Gliyer who 
worked in Baku that time. 
The second volume of the “History of Azerbaijan music” 
consists of a preface, an introduction, twelve sections and 
chapters. The first section is dedicated to the creation of the 
founder of opera in the East and Azerbaijan Uzeyir Hajybayli. In 
the first chapter there is considered the composer’s life and 
creation, in the second chapter the opera “Leyli and Majnun”, in 
the third – the musical comedy “Arshyn mal alan”, in the fourth – 
the opera “Koroghlu”, in the fifth – musical gazelles “Sansiz” 
(“Without you”), “Sevgili janan” (“Sweet-heart”), in the sixth – 
theoretical problems of the scientific creation of Uzeyir Hajy-
bayli such as sound system, mode theory, melody, rhythm, 
chorus, polyphony, harmonic style, European musical instru-
ments and oriental music, vocal performing etc. 
The following chapter is dedicated to the creation of new 
musical genres – operas and musical comedies in Azerbaijan 
music in the 20-30-es of the XX century, there are considered 
discussions dedicated to these genres. (The author of the first

section is academician of the Academy of Sciences of 
Azerbaijan, professor Z.Safarova).  
In the third section there is studied the creation of the 
composer Muslim Magomayev. (Author of this section is Ulkar 
Talybzade, PhD in music art.) 
In the first chapter there is considered the composer’s life 
and creation, in the second – the opera “Shah Ismayil”, in the 
third – the opera “Nargiz”.  
In the fourth section there is analysed the development of the 
national musical culture and given general, characteristics of this 
period. (The author is U.Talybzade). 
In the fifth section there is analysed composer Zulfugar 
Hajybayev’s creation (The author is J.Jabrailbayli). Composer’s 
life and creation is considered in the first chapter, musical 
comedies-in the second, the opera “Ashyg Garib” – in the third 
chapter. 
Then comes the VI section devoted to R.M.Gliyer. (Author 
of this section is Lala Kazymova, PhD in music art.) 
In the first chapter there is given general characteristics of 
composer’s creation. In the second chapter there is considered 
the opera “Shahsanam” and shown the role of the famous singer 
Sh. Mammadova in its creation. 
The following seventh section is dedicated to the develop-
ment of musical culture of Azerbaijan in the 1920-1930-es. In 
the eighth section there is considered the creation of the young 
composer Asaf Zeynally. (The author is R.Rzaguliyeva). 
In the first chapter there is considered composer’s life and 
creation, in the second vocal works, in the third – chamber 
works, in the fourth-symphonic works of the composer are 
analysed. 
The following ninth chapter is dedicated to Azerbaijan music 
culture of the 1930-40-es.). (Author of this section is Gula-
raVazirova, PhD in music art). 
Composer Afrasiyab Badalbayli’s creation is studied in the 
tenth section. (The author is G.Vazirova).

Composer’s life and creation is considered in the first chap-
ter, in the second – his first Azerbaijan ballet “Maiden Tower”, 
in the third – the opera “Nizami”, in the fourth – publicistic 
activity of the composer. 
In the eleventh section there are studied works of the con-
ductor and composer Niyazi. (Author of this section is Suraya 
Aghayeva, PhD in music art). 
Niyazi’s life and creation is considered in the first chapter. In 
the second chapter there is studied symphonic mugam “Rast”, in 
the third the opera “Khosrow and Shirin” and ballet “Chitra”, in 
the fourth – piano pieces of the composer, in the fifth – main 
peculiarities of his performing, in the sixth – Niyazi’s relations 
with turkish musical culture. 
The twelth section is dedicated to Said Rustamov’s works. 
(Author of this section is Shahla Hasanova, doctor of art). 
In the first chapter there is given the life and characterestics 
of Said Rustamov’s creation, in the second – song creation, in 
the third – musical comedies, in the fourth – instrumental works, 
in the fifth – his conductor’s activity, in the sixth – S.Rustamov 
and folk music and pedagogical activity of the composer. 
This last thirteen section presents works of Aqabaji Rzayeva. 
The section consists of two parts, the first of which pictures the 
life and creative way of this composer while the second dwells 
upon her songs and the works in other musical genres. (Author 
of this section is Hajar Babayeva, PhD in music art.) 
 Then there is given summary in Russian and English, 
information about authors and literature (in Azerbaijan, Russian
