englisH taBle clocks in tHe victorian country House’s interior (By reference to artWorks 

of tHe victorian Writers)

English table clocks of the Victorian era within the framework of art history and artistic culture is almost un-

known piece of furniture. The image, the place and the role of the English table clocks in the Victorian country 

house’s interior by reference to artworks of the Victorian writers are considered in this article. Elements of an 

extraordinary semantic program in the image of the Victorian table clocks as a symbol of the English country 

house are also represented in it.

Key words: interior, the artistic culture, theVictorian era, the country house, the Victorian writers, the artistic style.
