his own words. Thus, the only point in the play where the duo’s plan fails shows
Christian speaking with Roxane clumsily and bluntly causing her to first be repulsed
by him and later run away in disgust. The situation is remedied when Cyrano and
Christian visit Roxane’s house at night and Christian recites, from below her
balcony, the speech that Cyrano, who hides in the dark, whispers to him. At one
point, the two men argue in whispers and Cyrano takes the ropes, delivering a
romantic speech to Roxane himself. One of the two most romantic instances in the
play, this scene ends with Roxane falling in love with “Christian” once again. Here,
it is easily observable that style without message is fated to fail.
The importance of the message is also brought to attention in the other
romantic scene that takes place in the last act of the play, when Cyrano, who is about
to die, visits Roxane who has been in mourning ever since Christian’s death in the
war, many years ago. When Cyrano recites the last letter himself, without an
intermediary between his emotions and his beloved, Roxane comes to the
understanding that she has loved, and been loved by, Cyrano all along. The speech
delivered by Cyrano in the final scene may be considered to represent “wu wei” that
was discussed before, where “‘the message’ is delivered by ‘the message’ itself”.
The impact of the emotional ending of the play is due to the fact that the
communication is fully directed by“Cyrano’s feelings”/“the message”, which could
pose as an example that graphic designers should follow.
Conclusion: Should a Graphic Designer Have an Identity?
In the first paragraph, it has been stated that the identity of the graphic designer
shines through in the “style” with which a work is carried out. Through the points
made in the previous paragraphs, it may be concluded that “style”, thus the identity
of the graphic designer, is only secondary to what is being communicated. Since it
was noted that graphic design is “the communication of the client’s messages by the
graphic designer to the target audience”, it may be said that the identity of the graphic
designer comes after the client’s messages. What the client communicates through
it’s messages is who the client is itself. Thus, the identity of the graphic designer
follows the identity of the client. To conclude; since “form ever follows function”,
the graphic designer ever follows the client.

edilen her şeyde orijinlerine geri dönemlerine izin verilir.
