3 Down Sendromlu çocuklar için
motor müdahale:
Literatüre genel bir bakış
3.1. Literatür
DS’lu çocukların belirgin motor problemleri, Henderson (1985)
ve Block’un (1991) genel bakış makalelerinden kolaylıkla
anlaşılabilir. Çeşitli yazarlar, diğer engellilik çeşitleriyle
karşılaştırıldığında DS’lu çocukların spesifik motor
problemleri olduğu konusunda hem fikir olurlar. (Henderson,
1985: Connolly&Michael, 1986: Lauteslager, 1991, 1995;
Vermeer, 1993). Bu anlayışta hipotoni, reflekslerin anormal
gelişimi, instabilite ve aşırı ağırlık önemli bir rol oynuyor gibi
görünmektedir. Konjenital kalp bozuklukları, duyumsal motor
problemler ve eklemlerin hipermobilitesi gibi tıbbi durumların
etkileri de önemli bir rol oynamaktadır. Bununla birlikte, bu
çocukların yaşadığı bilişsel ve sosyal kısıtlamalar da
belirgindir (Block, 1991). Belirgin motor geriliğin de bir etkisi
olduğu görülmüştür (Kugel, 1970; Henderson, 1985;
Gunn &Berry, 1989). Bu sebeple DS’lu çocuklar, müdahale
programlarında sıklıkla yer alırlar. Motor davranışlarındaki
spesifik problemlere dayanarak, bu çocukların hayatlarının ilk
yıllarındaki motor gelişimleri pediatrik fizyoterapistler tarafından
artan oranlarda gözetim altına alınmaktadır.
Bu bölüm, motor müdahale metotlarının çeşitliliğine ve
uygunluğuna bir anlayış getirecektir. Bu, DS’lu çocukların motor
gelişiminde erken müdahalenin etkileri üzerine yapılmış 12 adet
araştırmanın temeli üzerine yapılacaktır.
