This half unit (0.5) combines with Education and Aspirations (0.5) to equate to one standard unit – these should be delivered together as a semester unit. Students are expected to study the accredited semester 1.0 unit unless enrolled in a 0.5 unit due to late entry or early exit in a semester.
Prerequisites

This unit should enable students to:
explain in detail language specific to Indian cuisine;
critically analyse Hindi films and discuss issues related to consumerism;
create a graphical chart to demonstrate understanding of specific aspects of poverty and its effect on the lifestyle of the people;
display thorough understanding of contemporary and traditional Indian cuisine; and
apply historical knowledge to solve contemporary issues.
Content
This unit will allow students to gain knowledge of traditional and contemporary food and its popularity. Students will discuss about poverty and watch films related to poverty and class.

This unit should enable students to:
explain effects of drugs from medical and recreational point of view;
critically analyse and synthesise issues in health and well-being;
create a variety of visual and oral stimuli related to the topics;
display thorough understanding of importance of mental and physical health; and
apply knowledge about sports and its relation to health.
Content
In this unit, students will learn about appropriate health and lifestyle issues. Students will get an opportunity to demonstrate their knowledge about various health crisis and maintaining mental health. Students will also learn about Sports and importance of role models for youth.
