A compass helps us find places on a map. This 
map of New York Central Park shows what is 
in and close to the park.
To the southwest of the park, we can see a 
big shopping mall, and we can see a zoo in 
the southeast. To the west of the park, there 
is the Hudson River. It runs from the north to 
the south of New York State. In the east of 
the park, we can see a famous museum with 
art from around the world. To the northeast 
of the park, there’s a school.
This map has a compass. It shows N, E, S, and 
W. It’s easy to find places you want to visit.
