Causes of the tongue barrier
There are a number of reasons that affect the level of learning. The language barrier can occur for several reasons:
Personal characteristics. According to the method of perception of information, people are divided into visual, audial and kinestets. If a person perceives information visually best, it will be more difficult for him to understand unfamiliar speech by ear. It is impossible to completely recreate the personality type, but it is possible to develop the missing qualities.
Lack of knowledge. Perhaps the difficulties in understanding the speaker's speech are associated with insufficient knowledge of grammar and a small vocabulary.37
Features of oral English. Most often, in everyday speech, native speakers use a number of abbreviations: I go - gonna, I want - want, I don't - not, I don't - need-not, etc.
Lack of practical training. Even with a good level of knowledge of a foreign language, you need a sufficient amount of practice. It is important to take the time to practice each skill (writing, speaking, listening and reading).
Difficult material. As you have learned, it is necessary to gradually increase the requirements. At the beginning of the training process, an excessively high bar will not bring good results. Therefore, first of all, you can focus on educational texts and personalized audiobooks. If you have difficulty understanding English speech, you can choose a book one level lower. For example, if your grammar and dictionary are at the Upper-Intermediate (B2) level, get the Intermediate (B1) audiobook.
How to improve understanding by listening
The two main causes of birth difficulties are the speed of speech and insufficient knowledge. It is important to learn to perceive not every word, but entire stable phrases and structures. This process can be compared to playing a musical instrument. The musician does not think about how to play each note, he thinks in passages and phrases.
Each text contains several phrases that you have come across several times. First, these are all sorts of clichés, for example, in fact - in fact, there is no doubt - undoubtedly, and so on. Knowledge of such stable structures greatly simplifies the process of receiving information.38
