ECHS Principal Superintendent, C-FB ISD Principal de Colegio Temprano de Escuela Secundaria Director, Distrito Escolar Independiente The Early College High School at Brookhaven College was created as a partnership with the Carrollton-Farmers Branch ISD in 2006 to increase graduation and college enrollment rates among local students. It is an educational choice open to C-FBISD students entering ninth grade. The ECHS experience demands maturity, persistence, and teamwork from the students to be successful in this challenging and nontraditional environment, as well as a great deal of parental support. The mission of the ECHS is to ensure a supportive academic environment that enables students to graduate from high school and earn a minimum of 42 core college hours or an associate’s degree. The ECHS experience nurtures the students, helping them become lifelong learners. The Early College High School at Brookhaven College was named a 2012 Distinguished Performance School by the Texas Education Agency. Since its inception, it has been recognized three times by the TEA as an Exemplary High School. La Escuela Secundaria Early College de Brookhaven College fue creada como una asociación con el Distrito Escolar Independiente de Carrollton-Farmers Branch en el 2006 para aumentar los porcentajes de graduación e inscripciones en el college entre los estudiantes locales. Ésta es una opción educativa abierta a los estudiantes del Distrito Escolar Independiente de Carrollton- Farmers Branch (abreviatura en inglés, C-FBISD) que ingresan al noveno grado. La experiencia en la Escuela Secundaria Early College (por sus siglas en inglés, ECHS) exige madurez, perseverancia y trabajo en equipo por parte de los estudiantes para tener éxito en este ambiente desafiante y no tradicional, así como un gran apoyo de los padres. La misión de ECHS es garantizar un ambiente académico solidario que permita a los estudiantes graduarse de la escuela secundaria y obtener un mínimo de 42 horas-crédito correspondientes a cursos funda- mentales o un grado de asociado. La experiencia en ECHS alienta el desarrollo de los estudiantes, ayudándoles a convertirse en personas que nunca dejan de aprender. La Escuela Secundaria y Preparatoria (Early College High School) de Brookhaven College ha sido designada por la Agencia de Educación de Texas como una Escuela con un Rendimiento Distin- guido. Ritter At Commencement each year, we are delighted that our platform com- mittee includes a member of the Board of Trustees of the Dallas County Community College District. Tonight we are proud to be joined by Board Trustee Mr. Philip J. Ritter. Trustee Ritter was elected to the DCCCD Board of Trustees in 2016 and is the Chair of the Planning and Budget Committee. Trustee Ritter graduated with Honors from the University of Maryland, College Park with a Bachelor of Arts in Urban Studies. He received his J.D. from the University Of Maryland School of Law and his MPA from the University of Texas at Austin, LBJ School of Public Affairs. Trustee Ritter is currently the Chief Operating Officer for the Meadows Mental Health Policy Institute. He oversees the programs, staff and operations of the Institute. His prior experience also includes serving as the Executive Vice President for Government and Stakeholder Affairs at the Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport where he managed the airport’s government and community relations, communications and board support activities. He has also held the position of Senior Vice President of Public Affairs with Texas Instruments Incorporated, where he had global responsibility for com- munity relations, corporate political activities and government affairs. In addition to his extensive corporate and governmental experience, Trustee Ritter is a dedicated philanthropic community member. He is currently the Chairman of the Development Board of the University of Texas at Dallas and a previous member of the Board of Governors of the Dallas Symphony Association. He has served as the Campaign Chair and Chairman of the Board for the United Way of Metropolitan Dallas and secured voter approval of $450 million in real estate pur- chases and facility construction for the Dallas County Community College District. He has served in over twenty civic and professional organizations including the Dallas/Fort Worth Minority Business Development Council Board of Directors and Chairman and Executive Committee member for the Alliance for Higher Education. He is dedicated to community service and servant leadership and these are traits that we highly value at Brookhaven College. Al inicio de cada año, nos da mucho gusto que nuestro comité de plataforma incluya a un miembro de la Junta Administrativa del Distrito de Colegios Comunitarios del Condado de Dallas. Esta noche nos sentimos honrados de tener al Miembro de la Junta Administrativa, el Sr. Philip J. Ritter. El Administrador Ritter fue electo a la Junta Administrativa del Distrito de Colegios Comunitarios del Condado de Dallas en 2016 y es el presidente del Comité de Planificación y Presupuesto. Su experiencia anterior también incluye el servicio como Vice-Presidente Ejecutivo de Gobierno y Asuntos de las Partes Interesadas en el Aeropuerto Internacional de Dallas/Fort Worth, en donde él tuvo la oportunidad de manejar las relaciones del gobierno del aeropuerto y de la comunidad, y las actividades de apoyo de la junta. También ha ocupado el puesto de Vice-Presidente Senior de Asuntos Públicos de la empresa Texas Instruments Incorporated, en donde tuvo una responsabilidad global en las relaciones de la comunidad, actividades políticas corporativas y asuntos gubernamentales. Además, de esta vasta experiencia corporativa y gubernamental, el Administrador Ritter, es un filántropo dedicado a su comunidad. Actualmente, es el presidente de la Junta de Desarrollo de la Universidad de Texas en Dallas y anteriormente fue miembro de la Junta de Gobernadores de la Asociación de la Sinfónica de Dallas. Ha prestado sus servicios como Presidente de la Campaña para United Way of Metropolitan Dallas y obtuvo la aprobación de votantes de $450 millones en compras de bienes raíces y la construcción de las instalaciones del Distrito de Colegios Comunitarios del Condado de Dallas.
