С. FUTURE CONTINUOUS versus WILL + INFINITIVE
I will write to Mr.Pitt and tell him about Tom’s new house.
(напишу мистеру пииту намеренно –deliberate action)
I’ll be writing to Mr.Pitt and tell him about Tom’s new house.
(обычно пишу мистеру питту и это одно из таких писем)
Tom won’t cut the grass = Tom refuses to cut the grass.
Tom won’t be cutting the grass. (=Tom may be ill, away).
WILL + INFINITIVE – означает предложение, просьбы, приказы
Will you have a cigarette? (предложение)
Will you help me lift the piano? (просьба)
You will work in this room. (приказ)
В future continuous таких значений нет:
Will you please bring the piano in here? – request
Will you be bringing the piano in here? – question only
D. Examples of various future forms
Представим что мы спросили у 5 людей об их планах на субботу:
What are you doing/going to do on Saturday?
Peter has arranged to play golf with George; so he will say:
I am playing /going to play golf with George.
(b) Mary has decided to stay at home and make jam; so she will say:
I am staying / going to stay at home. I am going to make jam.
(c) Andrew’s plans depend on the weather; so he may say:
If it’s fine I’ll work/I am going to work in the garden.
(d) Ann hasn’t made any plans, but she may say:
Perhaps I’ll take / I expect I’ll take / I’ll probably take / I suppose I’ll take my children
for a walk.
(e) Bill always has to work on Saturdays; so he’ll say:
Oh, I’ll be working as usual. (No other form would give this exact meaning.)
Where are you playing / are going to play/will you be playing golf?
What kind of jam are you going to make / will you be making?
What will you if he is not on the plane?
Will you have drink?
Will you have your meal now or later?
What are you going to do / what will you be doing in the garden?
Are you going to cut the grass?
Will you be cutting the grass?
If you take them, where will you go?
Will you be working all day?
