Know all men by these presents that we, William Saby of Waddenhoe in the County of Northampton, butcher, and John Doe, are held and firmly bound unto the Reverend Father in God, Robert, by Divine Permission, Lord Bishop of Peterborough, in the sum of one hundred pounds of Good and lawful money of Great Britain to be paid unto the said Lord Bishop, or to his certain attorney, his executors, administrators or assigns, to which payment well and truly be made we oblige ourselves, and each of us by himself for the whole, our and each of our heirs, executors, and administrators, firmly by these presents sealed with our seals dated the twenty-second day of April in the ninth year of the Reign of our Sovereign Lord George the second by the grace of God of Great Britain, France, and Ireland, King, Defender of the Faith, and so forth, and in the year of our Lord one Thousand seven hundred and thirty-six.

The condition of this obligation is such that if Elizabeth Saby the wife of the above bounden William Saby, daughter and administrator of all and singular the goods chatels and credits of Anne Seckington, late of Brackley, widow, deceased, do make or cause to be made a true and perfect Inventory of all and singular the goods, chatels and credits of the said deceased which have or shall come to the hand, possession, or knowledge of her, the said Elizabeth Saby or into the hands and possession of any person or persons for her and the same so made do exhibit or cause to be exhibited into the Registry of the above named Lord Bishop at or before the last day of July next ensuing and the same goods, chatels and credits, and all the other the goods, chatels, and credits of the said deceased at the time of her death which at any time after shall come to the hands or possession of the said Elizabeth Saby or into the hands and possession of any other person or persons for her do well and truly administer according to the law. And further do make or cause to be made a true and just account of her said administration at or before the last day of April 1737 and all the rest and residue o the said goods, chatels and credits which shall be found remaining upon the said administrator's account the same being first examined and allowed of by the Judge or Judges for the time being of the said Court shall deliver and pay unto such person or persons respectively as the said Judge or Judges by his or their decree or sentence pursuent to the true intent and meaning of a late Act of Parliament made in the two and twentieth years of the reign of our late Sovereign Lord King Charles the second, entitled An Act for the better settling of Intestate Estates, shall limit and appoint.

And if it shall hereafter appear that any last will and testament was made by the said deceased and the executor or executors therein named do exhibit the same into the said court making request to have it allowed and approved accordingly if the said Elizabeth Saby above bounden being thereunto required do render and deliver the said Letters of Administration, approbation of such testament being first had and made, in the said court then this obligation be void or else to remain in full force and vertue.
Sealed and delivered being first duly stamped in the presence of William Gurnall and William Saby.

26 April 1736 the within named Elizabeth Seckington was sworn well and faithfully to administer the goods etc of Anne Seckington, deceased, and that the same did not extend to the value of twenty pounds

This is the last will and testament of me Samuel Seckington of Brackley in the County of Northampton, Labourer, being of sound and disposing mind

First I will and direct that all my just debts and funeral expenses be fully paid and satisfied

Also I give and bequeath unto my neice Elizabeth Chancellor, Spinster, who now lives and resides with me my bed with the bedstead hangings and furniture thereto, also two tables and the other furniture in the house or room wherein I dwell as follows, that is to say, four chairs and a corner cupboard and sundry earthenware therein, fire shovel, tongs, and poker, dog irons, bellows, tea kettle and boiling kettle, two candlesticks, tinder box and coffee pot, one barrel, all my fueling, one wash tub, and one tin basket, to and for her use.

Also I give and bequeath all and every other of my goods, chattels, and personal estate of what nature, kind or sort soever and wheresoever unto my friend John Nicholls of Brackley aforesaid yeoman, in trust nevertheless that he the said John Nicholls, his executors or administrators, do and shall as soon as conveniently may be, after my decease, sell and dispose of all my said other effects and pay and apply the monies arising from such sale in manner following, that is to say,

The sum of ten pounds to my sister Fanny, the wife of John Minnell, as a compensation for the trouble and expense she may be put to in boarding and mantaining my mother Rose Seckington and I do hereby give and bequeath the same sum of money to my said sister accordingly.

And all the residue and remainder thereof to my brother George Seckington, or to be paid and disposed of by thesaid John Nichols as in his discretion he shall think proper in buying and providing clothes or other necessities for his family.

AlsoI give and bequeath unto my said brother George Seckington all my wearing apparel.

And lastly I do hereby make, nominate, constitute, and appoint my said friend John Nicholls sole executor of this my last will and testament hereby revoking and making void all former and other will and wills by me at any time here to fore made, and declaring this to be my last will and testament.

In witness whereof I the said testator Samuel Seckington have to this my last will and testament set my hand and seal the twenty third day of February in the year of our Lord one thousand seven hundred and ninety eight.
