WORK & TRAVEL USA 2018

 

 

Work  &  Travel  USA  program  gives  you  a  chance  to  be  much  more  than  a  tourist!  Experience  life  in  the  U.S.  by 

working  side-by-side  with  locals.  It’s  a  real  American  experience  that  also  helps  cover  travel  expenses!  As  your 

program  sponsors:  CIEE,  CHI,  Intrax  will  help  you  to  get  the  best  experience  possible.  They  have  sponsored 

thousands Work & Travel students. Plus, they’re available 24 hours a day to help you with questions and emergencies 

while you are in the United States. We will help you to prepare for the program, and get you all of the important work 

documents you’ll need. 

Program  allows  to  work  maximum  4  months  between  May  25

th

  and  September  25

th

.  After  work  student  has 

opportunity to travel for 30 days without work  permit (grace period) but student must return to Poland before new 

academic year at University will start - for Poland established October 1st. 

Program  is  carried  out  in  cooperation  with  the  biggest  US  partners  in  the  world,  our  multiannual  reliable  partners 

specializing in international student exchange programs are: CIEE, CHI, Intrax, Interexchange. 

Program is available in following options: 



 

SELF  –  student  is  responsible  to  arrange  own  employment  in  US  and  must  confirm  that  on  employment 

agreement form which have to be sigh by future employer and student. 



 

PREMIUM – Almatur together with US partner will assist and help student to get one employment agreement  

Work - wide range of employers all over the United States who need short-term, seasonal staff. Plenty of different 

job opportunities are available to participants, including positions in: Resorts , Hotels, Restaurants, Amusement and 

Aqua Parks, Retail Stores, Swimming Pools etc.  

Forbidden Jobs: Any job that is unpaid / Sales jobs requiring the participant to invest his/her own monies to pre-

purchase inventory / Domestic help positions in private U.S. households - e.g. au pair, servant, gardener or chauffeur 

/ Jobs in the adult entertainment industry / Jobs that are substantially commission-based and thus do not guarantee 

minimum wage / Operators of pedicabs, rolling chairs, other passenger carrying vehicles for hire, and/or vehicles, 

requiring a commercial driver's license / Jobs providing clinical care, medical services or involving patient contact, 

hands on therapy, counseling, administering treatment or making diagnoses of medical, psychiatric or psychological 

patients, or veterinary work involving hands-on care / As ship or aircraft crew members, or as pilots, except as crew 

members on ships that travel only within domestic U.S. waters / Teacher, teaching assistant or coach / Camp 

counselor / Jobs through staffing/employment agencies / Jobs in warehouses, factories, manufacturing, fisheries / 

Traveling carnivals/concessions  

Any job, whether or not it is included in the list above, must be generally compatible with the rules, regulations, and 

intent of the program. Participants must be able to balance their work responsibilities with time spent exploring their 

local community, learning about the U.S. and getting to know Americans. In addition to the above, any job that could 

bring notoriety or disrepute to the Exchange Visitor Program is expressly prohibited by the program regulations. It is 

also important to note that all Work & Travel USA jobs are “seasonal.” 

Accommodation – Students should to provide housing by them self but usually employers helps or even offer some 

accommodation options. Rental cost is covered by the student and weekly average fee could be about 75-90 USD. 

Money - own founds - Students should have enough money (about 1000 USD) to cover costs of accommodation, 

food, transportation and all other kind of costs till they get first pay check, usually after 2 weeks from arrival. 

Insurance - Students are insured for whole period of program but usually for “grace period” need to buy an extra 

insurance. Before departure to US students should read very carefully all information about their insurance (minimum 

coverage 50.000 USD).  

Air ticket to US – Almatur is able to help all students with booking tickets in a very good prices. As earlier the 

booking is made the price is better. Cost depends also from destination in US, West Coast and Alaska will be more 

expensive then East Coast.

To be eligible for Work & Travel USA program, you must: 



 

Be in age between 18 – 30 years old (with some exceptions, the upper age limit) 



 

Be responsible and independent 



 

Apply with all needed documentation and make necessary payments on time 



 

Have valid passport till minimum 30 April 2019 



 

Have email account which you have to use 



 

Be registered as a full-time student at a university or other institution of post-secondary education. The 

degree/diploma course in which you are registered must be at least two years in duration. 



 

Be able to function in an English-speaking work environment. Complete an English language interview, in 

person or by telephone, by your local agency. 



 

Have a pre-arranged job and a minimum of 1000 USD available in order to support yourself upon arrival in 

the U.S. 

 

Process of Work and Travel program: 



 

Student have to choose the program and sign agreement with Almatur 



 

Student is looking for a job and signing agreement with employer 



 

Student have to provide all necessary documentation (application, passport copy etc)  



 

Student have to make all necessary payments 



 

Visa application process and Interview in US Embassy for J-1 Visa 



 

Student have to book and buy ticket to U.S.  



 

Student will received all documents like passport with J-1 Visa, DS-2019 etc.
