CONCLUSION
The content of this literature review summarizes many key concepts related to the cellular biology of cancer. Cancer is often caused by mutagenic events that affect key oncogenes and tumor suppressors. These genetic changes, combined with changes in gene expression, allow cancer cells to engage in unregulated proliferation. Cancer cells begin to accumulate mutations and metabolic adaptations that allow them to be selected by normal cells. When cancer cells grow into large tumors, they can cause the blood vessels to dilate, which provides them with the nutrients they need to multiply. Cancer diseases are aggravated by metastases to foreign tissues. Model systems have been developed to study all the abnormalities that characterize cancer. Finally, different cancer treatments are being developed, each with distinct advantages and disadvantages.
