What are the advantages and disadvantages of this.

It is expected that automation of vehicles will become more prevalent in the years to come ,and people inside would have no role but to be a passenger. While this can have some negatives, I do still think that this development has more positives.
On the one hand , this phenomenon has a number of hurdles to overcome. To begin with, technical problems could be the biggest challenge in delivering automated vehicles onto the roads. Drivers ,usually, are adept at dealing with different traffic conditions ,while these cars may face some troubles when they have to negotiate heavy congestions on roads. On top of this, there are other more significant issues that should be addressed in a form of unemployment in larger sector. If we are to introduce driverless cars, it is highly likely that most of the professionals drivers, mechanics ,and employees at manufacturing factories will stay redundant. As a result, this can increase the crime rate, and chaos in most big cities ,where people would go on strikes over this problem.

Nevertheless, there more positives of this development, I think. Primarily , this can benefit both people with mobility problems and ordinary people at the same time. The former may enjoy greater travel autonomy, whilst the latter can enjoy other activities such as reading a book or taking a nap instead of driving a car, which can be handy, especially, in long journeys. On a broader sense, when the car sharing-scheme is widely available, this can benefit both general public and the environment. Due to the opportunity to share cars , the car ownership could reduce to great extent ,as a consequence, the number of cars on roads would even be halved leading to decreased traffic congestion. Also, when there are no cars to emit CO2 and other detrimental gasses into the air , the pollution rate will probably plummet, leading to fresher air.

In conclusion , this initiative of self-driving cars can be more positive than negative .
