Surface  epithelial  cells  secrete  serous  uid,  resulting  in  a  watery  cyst

content.

Psammoma  bodies  are  areas  of  ne  calci c  granulation,  may  be

scattered within the tumor and are visible on radiograph.

Frozen section is necessary to distinguish between benign, borderline,

and  malignant  serous  tumors,  because  gross  examination  alone

cannot make this distinction.
