NAGARA.  The  percussion  musical  instrument.

N E H O FT .  The mugham p art  situated between  “Hezin”  and  “G avesht” 

in  the  dastgah  “N eva” .

NEY.  One  of the  ancient  wind  musical  instruments  of Azerbaijan.  It  is 

prepared from the wood, cane or bronze.  It is a drum form, it consists 

of  a  tube  in  60-70  cm  length.  There  is  no  m outhpiece  in  the  top. 

There  are  only  three  or  six  holes  which  definite  the  height  of  the 

sounds.  Its  voice  is  very  charming,  tender  and  effective.

NEY-DAVUD.  The mugham part situated between  “Bidad”  and  “Bavi” 

in  the  dastgah  “H um ayun” .

N EFIR. W ind musical instrument. The mugham part performed between 

“M ureh”  and  “Jam ederan”  in  the  dastgah  “H um ayun”.

N E F IR -F A R A N G .  In  E a st  m usic:  the  sm all  in stru m e n ta l  episode 

perform ed  before  “N ovruz-araba”  from  “M u attar”  in  the  dastgah 

“R ast-P an jg ah ” .

NEHAVEND.  The  m ugham   part.

NEK HJIRK AN .  One  of the  mugham  parts  in  Middle  Ages.

N ESTERI.  The  last  m ugham  part  of the  dastgah  “N eva”.

NEVAYI.  1.  Any  played  music  p art  in  the  style  o f “N eva”  or  on  the 

base of “N eva” .2. The song created the honor of Amir Alishir Nevai.

NEVAYI-NISHAPUR.  The  second  nam e  of the  dastgah  “N eva”.

N IIR IZ .  In  the  m usic  o f  E ast  n a tio n s:  the  p a rt  situated  between 

“N ish ap u rek ”  and  “D ilkesh”  in  the  dastgah  “M ah u r”;  the  part 

situated  between  “U shshag”  and  “B ayati-A jam ”  in  the  dastgah 

“R a s t” .

N IM RU Z.  One  o f the  mugham  parts.

N ISH A PU R.  The  first  part  in  the  dastgah  “N eva”.

NISHAPUREK.  The  part  in  the  dastgah  “N eva” .

N ISHIBI-FERAZ.  (the literal meaning o f the word is  “ups and downs”). 

1.  The  p art  perform ed  after  “Sarenj”  in  the  dastgah  “S hur”;  the 

connecting  p art  performed  before  “Bayati-Isfahan”  in  the  dastgah 

“B ayati-S hiraz”.

NOTE.  The  sign  o f different  sounds;  it  is written in  the form of circle or 

blacken,  different  signs  are  added.  The  graphical  description  of the 

note  means  the  length  of  the  sound,  but  its  place  in  the  line  with 

5ruled  means  the  height  of the  sound.

NOTE LIN ES.  The line consisting of 5 parallel horizontal straight lines; 

the  notes  are  written  on  it;  the  lines  are  numbered  from  low  to  top; 

it  helps  to  definite  the  height  of the  voice.  Notes  are  written:  a)  on 

the lines;  b) am ong the lines; c) on the top line;  d) under the low line. 

At  the  same  time  the  extra  lines  are  also  used.  The  nam e  of  the 

notes  written  on  the note  line  and  their  origin  are  definite  according

to  the  key  sign  at  the  beginning  of the  line;  in  order  to  specify  the 

height  of the  written  voices  the  alteration  signs  are  used.

N OYRUZ-BAYATI.  One  of  the  24  p arts  in  classical  music  o f N ear 

East  nations.

NOVRUZ-BUZURG.  One  of the  parts  in  mugham.

NOYRUZI-REVENDE.  The  prelude  of  “R ast”  mugham  dastgah:  the 

second  name  of the  part  “Bardasht-Rast” .  The  Persian  meaning  of 

the  w ord  is  “N ovruz”  -   the  new  day,  “R evende”  -   to  begin  the 

departure.

N O V RU Z  SEBA.  One  of the  24  parts  in  classical  music  of N ear  East 

nations.

N O V R U Z   KHARA.  One  o f  the  24  parts  in  classical  music  o f  N ear 

East  nations.

N U SH IN   BADE.  The  mugham  part.

N U Z H E .  The  stringed  instrument  discovered  by  Safiaddin  Urmavi.  It 

has  81  strings.  It  is  known  that  one  can  get  27  different  voices  if 

three  o f the  strings  are  played  in  the  same  unison.
