Awarded the Order of the Rising Sun, Gold Rays with Neck Ribbon

AMADA HOLDINGS CO., LTD. (Isehara City, Kanagawa, Japan) Chairman and CEO Mitsuo
Okamoto was awarded “The Order of the Rising Sun, Gold Rays with Neck Ribbon” at the 2017
spring decorations by the Japanese government.
Since taking office as AMADA President and CEO in 2003, Mr. Okamoto made innovated
integration of manufacturing and sales
and changing the management from owner to organizational.
On the other side he further contributed to the growth of the company by working to strengthen
sales, development, and production systems, to expand overseas, to promote the development of
new laser based technologies and products, and more. Not only that, he also shifted AMADA to a
holding company system in April 2015, giving birth to AMADA HOLDINGS CO., LTD., establishing
a system to enable more flexible management and executive operations as a group.
From May 2009 to December 2015, Mr. Okamoto served as president of The AMADA SCHOOL
OF VOCATIONAL TRAINING CORPORATION, contributing to the development of the industry by
committing to technical education and personnel training corresponding to technological
innovation in sheet-metal processing for sheet-metal processing companies, many of which are
micro, small, and medium sized enterprises. Then in 2015 he was appointed Chairman of the
Board of Directors of the AMADA FOUNDATION where he continues to
contribute to the sound
development of our nation’s industries and economy by promoting academic achievement related
to metal processing and aiming to create new science and technology.

It is indeed a great honor to receive The Order of the Rising Sun, Gold Rays with Neck Ribbon. I
owe this to the many years of guidance and encouragement from our customers, my
predecessors, and colleagues in the industry, for which I would like to express my heartfelt
gratitude. I also deeply appreciate all of our employees who have always supported me.
I am absolutely delighted to be recognized for my contributions, however small they may be, to
our company’s business expansion and the development of the metalworking industry. With this
honor, I am inspired to continue to serve the industry and society the best way that I can.
