If you would like to help us restore this iconic building to its former glory or
simply find out more about the project and plans, please contact Claudia Wellwood
at c.wellwood@fettes.com or by telephoning +44 (0)131 311 4758.
Our vision is that, with the support of donors, the Pavilion
will become a co-educational venue that incorporates a
flexible hospitality space for our community and visiting
teams. It will once again become a place where teams
can be inspired to get out there and win.
Making this happen
Fundraising for this project is very much a priority for
the Fettes Foundation. We were fortunate to receive a
generous legacy from Paddy Croker (Staff 1959-1965)
recently. This and the tremendous generosity already
shown by donors to the Pavilion has raised over £260,000
of our £1 million goal. We are aiming to raise the remaining
funds by 2019-20 and hope to open the newly restored
Pavilion in 2020.
It seems fitting that the restoration of the Pavilion will be
funded through philanthropy once again, just as it was
over a century ago by the Old Fettesians who wanted
to remember a Housemaster they described as “a hero
with an understanding heart, brave, honest and kind”.
“For me, the Pavilion was more than just a place to
change prior to a 1st XV Rugby fixture. It was a place
that took 15 individual school boys and brought them
together as a collection of men, ready for battle. It was
where the final prep, team talk and team tactics were
discussed. It was where a number of Fettesians truly
felt at home in a brotherhood of men, unable to be
replicated anywhere else.”

Your Memories
A big part of what makes the
Pavilion special to the people
that have passed through its doors
is their own personal history and
the memories they have made there.
As part of the project, we have been
collecting memories, photographs
and memorabilia from members of
the Fettes Community to add to our
already rich archive.
We are working with the Fettes
College Archivist, Craig Marshall, to
develop ideas for the display of this
invaluable memorabilia. Existing
boards, some of which date back to
1870, will be fully restored and will
remain pride of place in the Pavilion.
We are absolutely committed to
ensuring Fettes’ sporting history can
be celebrated and safeguarded in
the most appropriate manner.

Parent Choir – fundraising for the Fettes
College Chapel Choir Tour 2016
As part of the fundraising for the Choir Tour our parent
community had the opportunity to train intensively for a
weekend with Director of Music, David Goodenough.
The parents came together brilliantly to sing in Sunday
Chapel in June 2016.
We are extremely grateful to the following parents, Old
Fettesians and friends who supported our fundraising
dinners in 2016 and in 2017 by providing advice and prizes.
Their support helped us raise significant funds towards
the Chapel Choir Tour to Hong Kong last summer, the
forthcoming Hockey Tour to Barcelona and Rugby Tour to
South Africa and bursaries.
FUNDRAISING DINNERS
Each January we host a fundraising dinner to support pupil tours and bursaries.
