ENIL Youth Network Board Elections 2017

APPLICATION FORM

  1. Name and surname: Kamil Goungor

  1. Surname: Goungor

  1. Country of residence: Greece

  1. Why do you think you should be elected to be part of the ENIL Youth Network Board? (max. 150 words)

I am passionate Independent Living activist and youth advocate. In addition, I am an active member of ENIL Youth Network and I know its values. I know a lot of its members across Europe and have participated in some of its events (such as the study session “All in” in 2016). I am also nominated to represent it at the EDF Youth’s committee. I strongly believe that all these, as well as my experience in the field and my personal characteristics (such as hardworking, committed, reliable, responsible, love to learn and improve, team worker), make me a good candidate for the board. ENIL taught and gave (and is still giving) me a lot, and I want to do the same for the next generation. I am already 29 and now it is the best moment to do it.

  1. Tell us about your past experience in the disability and/or youth field.

(max. 150 words)
I am quite active in disability and youth field, both at national and international level. I am co-founder, board member and secretary general of i-living (the first and only Independent Living organization in Greece). I am also ENIL (and its Youth Network) member, participating and representing it in many events. In addition, for 6 months I did an EVS (European Voluntary Service) mobility program working for both ENIL and Onafhankelijk Leven (Flemish Independent Living organization), which was a great learning experience for me. Moreover, whenever I have the opportunity, I participate in “mainstream” youth events in Europe and Greece, and I bring the perspective of young disabled persons “to the table”. Worth of mentioning is also my collaboration with Greek Children’s Ombudsman, as well as my volunteering background.

  1. List three things you want the ENIL Youth Network to achieve in the next three years. (max 100 words)

  1. To raise awareness about Independent Living and its principles (not only among the general population but also among its own members).

  2. To grow (the network), gain more members, involve them and hopefully they will be active and will contribute to achieve more things.

  3. To develop its own website and some more documents about its work, its values etc.

  1. How would you contribute to achieving these goals, if you are elected in the ENIL Youth Network Board? (max. 100 words)

I can contribute in many different ways. First of all, by cooperating with other Youth Network (board and not only) members, as well as ENIL and its members, I will try to achieve these goals. I travel a lot, meet many people and speak with them, I use the web and social media, and that helps too. As for more practical ways, I can contribute by participating and representing the Youth Network in events, doing presentations and giving speeches, writing reports and collecting information, in a team or individually when needed.
