learning a language

Some people think learning a language should start at an early age, but others say it is much better to start in high school. Discuss both sides and give your opinion.
As a global demand to know multiple languages in today`s competitive workplace, there is an ongoing argument over the best start date to learn a second language. While I agree with the opinion that high school students can have better educational and professional opportunities by language acquisition at secondary school, I personally believe starting to acquire language skills at early age brings about more advantages. On the one hand, I agree with the views of supporters who claim that because of the responsibility and career-orientation goals, high school students can assimilate language aspects much better. To be more precise, teenagers are in the critical milestone, in which they set personal and career related objectives, which encourage them to spend most of their time on mastering a second language. This, in effect, leads to pursue academic accomplishments and secure a well-paid job. This can be further explained with some facts that with a good language competency, students can earn international diplomas in top ranking Universities, such as Cambridge. That enables youngsters to gain more foreign experience and career prospects at a prestigious company. Because of this clear career goals, they can dedicate themselves to master a foreign language responsibly.

On the other hand, despite these benefits to start learning a language at a secondary school, I personally believe that being bilingual from childhood has more priorities as opposed to adult age. Firstly, learning a second language at early age is much faster and allows early success. On a biological level, the child brain is more flexible to adapt a new environment and challenge, meaning that children easily learn a language with fun and enjoyment. So, it is part of amusement for children. Besides that, early language knowledge provides more success for children. To be more specific, there is an obvious link to improve academic performance, increased memory and learning a second language. This trend allows children to achieve more accomplishments in academic and professional life.
In conclusion, although adults seem more responsible to attain language skills, I presume that learning a foreign language at early age has more benefits.
