Pre-screening letter for Scholars

This letter is meant to be used by people intending to start the nomination process of an academic candidate they deem fit to receive the Elinor Ostrom Award on Collective Governance of the Commons.

Please fill all sections of this letter and submit it to ostromaward@gmail.com not later than the 15th of June, 2018. The Pre-screening letter should be submitted along with the 2 required recommendation letters by academics or practitioners

Usage of multiple methods on research or practice

Has the scholar used multiple methods of research to sustain their findings? What has been the role of the comparative method on the critical pieces of research of the scholar?






Promotion of dialog between academic and applied work

What is the role of practitioners and commons users or managers in the work of the scholar? Does the scholar promotes interaction arenas between academics and practitioners for mutual strengthen?






Impact

What's the impact of the scholar's work on academia? What has been the impact on public policy or society?






Mentorship and community-building

(for senior scholars only) Has the scholar been involved in activities which help train younger academics or practitioners (such as courses or workshops)? (for senior scholars only) Has the scholar promoted the mentorship of mentors? (for all scholars) Has the scholar been involved in the development of activities in which networks of cooperation between scholars are fostered?






Collaboration

What is the importance of collaboration for the nominated scholar? What proportion of the scholar's work is a result of collaboration with other scholars (e.g. co-authorship for the development of papers)?
