Math U See Delta
Class Description:

In this 4th grade math class, the student will use Math U See Delta. Math U See is a curriculum that uses manipulatives to illustrate and teach math concepts. Student work toward building understanding by using a multi-sensory, mastery-based approach. Division is presented as the inverse of multiplication. In MUS Delta, "Single-digit division facts are learned and the concepts of division and place value are applied when solving long division problems." (www.mathusee.com)

Learning Materials: Main Curriculum:

Math U See Delta Instruction Pack

Math U See Delta Student Kit

Math U See Manipulative Block Set

Supplemental:
Learning Goals/Performance Objectives: 3.1.B Round whole numbers through 10,000 to the nearest ten, hundred, and thousand.

4.1.B Identify factors and multiples of a number.

4.2.F Write a fraction equivalent to a given fraction.

4.3.D Determine the areas of figures that can be broken down into rectangles.

5.1.A Represent multi-digit division using place value models and connect the representation to the related equation.

5.1.B Determine quotients for multiples of 10 and 100 by applying knowledge of place value and properties of operations.

5.1.E Mentally divide two-digit numbers by one-digit divisors and explain the strategies used.
Learning Activities: The student will complete 3-4 lessons (units) per month, per the timeline below. Each lesson consists of video instruction, 3 practice worksheets on new material, 3 systematic review worksheets, an activity page (optional), and a test. There is a unit test after every 7 lessons and a final test at the end.
