7 Ahaz sent messengers to Tiglath-Pileser king of Assyria, saying, "I am your servant and your son. Come up and save me from the hand of the king of Syria and from the hand of the king of Israel, who rise up against me."

  • 8 Ahaz took the silver and gold that was found in the house of the LORD, and in the treasuries of the king's house, and sent it as a present to the king of Assyria.

  • 9 The king of Assyria heeded him; for the king of Assyria went up against Damascus and took it, carried its people captive to Kir, and killed Rezin. NKJV

    • 5 The king of Assyria went throughout all the land, And He went up to Samaria and besieged it for three years.

    • 6 In the ninth year of Hoshea, the king of Assyria took Samaria and Carried Israel away to Assyria, And Placed them in Halah and by the Habor, the River of Gozan, And in the cities of the Medes.

    • 4 They broke down the altars of the Baals in his presence, and the incense altars which were above them he cut down; and the wooden images, the carved images, And The molded images he broke in pieces, and made dust of them and scattered it on the graves of those who had sacrificed to them.

    • 5 He also burned the bones of the priests on their altars, And cleansed Judah and Jerusalem.

    • 6 So He did in the cities of Manasseh, Ephraim, and Simeon, as far as Naphtali and all around, with axes.

    • 8 The head of Syria is Damascus. The head of Damascus is Rezin. Within sixty-five years Ephraim will be broken; So It will not be a people.

    • 9 The head of Ephraim is Samaria. The head of Samaria is Remaliah's son. If you will not believe, Surely you shall not be established."'"
