Topic-Our Martyrs

Baku 2022

Homeland is not just a geographical space. Homeland is a land worthy of love and respect. We drink the water of the homeland, eat its bread, and breathe its air. Our house and our village are in these lands. Our grandfathers sleep on these lands, our parents walk on these lands. Homeland is sacred. Our ancestors had lived in this land, protected it, and fought for it. Homeland is our existence, our pride. How many of our heroes died for our lands? The heroes who sacrificed their lives for the sake of the homeland, on the way to its freedom and independence, will never be forgotten and become immortal.

Our homeland is Azerbaijan. I am proud of my homeland. The capital of the Republic of Azerbaijan is the city of Baku. The Republic of Azerbaijan was established on 28 May 1918. Each year, we celebrate this day. Ruled for long years by a state called USSR, our country regained its independence on 18 October 1991. Therefore, each year, the 18th of October is celebrated as Independence Day.
Azerbaijan has thousands of heroes. They died for these lands and rose to the rank of martyrs. September 27, 2020... On that day, a new page was opened in the annals of heroism. This page was written with the bravery of the Azerbaijani soldier, the triumphal march, and the war of our Army for the Motherland. Not only our brave sons but also our brave daughters were ready to fight with them. At that time, one of our sons said: "If all the sons die in Azerbaijan, then the girls can fight. But no women will take part in the war yet. We protect you, all citizens, and this is our duty." These words were very proud. During the 44-day Patriotic War, the people of Azerbaijan were united and supported each other. The people of Azerbaijan believed in the soldiers who fought in the battle. They were sure to win. Because we have a strong army, commander in chief. Thus, Azerbaijani lands were freed from occupation one by one, village by village.

Within 44 days, Jabrayil, Gubadli, Zangilan, Fuzuli regions, most of Khojavend, 5 cities, 4 settlements, 286 villages, including the villages of Lachin region, and numerous strategic heights were liberated from occupation. Our glorious tricolor flag was raised again in our native land. On November 8, the city of Shusha, considered the crown of Karabakh, was liberated from the Armenian invaders. November 8 is celebrated as Victory Day every year. 2 days later – on the night of November 10, the Commander-in-Chief of the Azerbaijan Armed Forces, Ilham Aliyev, announced a great victory to his people: “Today is a historic day for our country. Today, the Armenian-Azerbaijani Nagorno-Karabakh conflict ends. I believe that the tripartite statement signed just now will be the last point in the direction of solving the issue.” Yes, that day was the end of the 30-year Nagorno-Karabakh conflict. Thanks to the steel will of our determined sons, our war of justice ended with victory in just 44 days, and historical justice triumphed...

Azerbaijan won a brilliant victory and defeated Armenia. We owe the liberation of Karabakh from occupation to our martyrs and Ilham Aliyev. We call those martyrs heroes. Because they died for us. Heroes give their lives to keep the country alive...
