Good Morning,
My name is Aimee Haray, I have been a Certified Behavior Analyst in CT for the past 8 years. I have been
servicing children and young adults with autism. On many occasions while working with children and
their families I have come in contact with other professionals who have used the titles "Behaviorist",
"Behavior Specialist", and "Behavior Analysts (not certified)" when in actuality there higher education
has been in social work, education , and/or psychology to name a few. The problem becomes that the
families do not receive the appropriate services that their child and family should be benefiting from by
receiving Behavior Analytic services from a certified/licensed BCBA/BCaBA, therefore seeing less
progress.
By passing the proposed bill to License Behavior Analysts in Connecticut it would protect one of the
most vulnerable populations in the state and protect. In addition the licensing of behavior analysts
would provide a more robust means for the state to investigate claims of professional misconduct
and/or misrepresentation. Currently, Behavior Analysts are the only practitioners in CT which work in
and/or consult to public schools who are not licensed.
Please consider supporting Bill 7167 to License Behavior Analysts in CT.
Thank you,
Aimee Haray
