Context Clues

Context Clues: Use the words in the passage to hunt for clues as to the meaning of the unknown word.

Example: After writing a very detailed letter to his grandmother in Germany, Timmy also included a postscript ( PS) at the end to tell his grandmother that he hoped to hear from her soon.

Postscript means: to write after/ at the end


Example: Margaret ( herd, heard) the sound of the buffalo in the distance.

Answer: heard
