Install eclipse
-
While in eclipse click the help tab, select “Install New software”
-
In the work with bar type “http://pydev.org/updates” then follow the installation wizard process
-
Restart the IDE as prompted
-
Then in eclipse, click the “Window” tab and then click “preferences”
-
In the navigation bar type “Jython” to quickly find the “Jython Interpreter” tab
-
When in this tab, select new, and give the interpreter a good name like “Jython 2.7” or whichever version you are now using
-
Then click browse and navigate to the jython.jar file and click OK
-
Note: Jython must have been previously downloaded at this point
-
To import additional jar files such as game API’s to a given project, right click that project and select “Import”
-
Then navigate to the folder containing the .jar files you would like to add and click next
-
In the next window, check all desired .jar files and click finish
-
Finally, right click the project and select “Properties”
-
In the PyDev-PYTHONPATH tab click “Add zip/jar/edd” and select the desired .jar files
-
Select OK and the .jar files should be added to the project ready for use
-
Note: Eclipse often takes a moment before it recognizes the new libraries or python in general. To adequately test if you have set this up correctly, simply run one of the demos/todos
-
Before running the program, go to “run configurations…” under the run button. Click “Arguments” and under VM arguments, type:
-Dpython.console.encoding=UTF-8
Note: This is also the solution if you are getting this error message:
“console: Failed to install '': java.nio.charset.UnsupportedCharsetException: cp0.”
