Dr. Masahiro Hiraoka is the Chair and Professor of radiation oncology and image-applied therapy at Kyoto University Graduate School of Medicine since 1995. Dr. Hiraoka worked as Director of Kyoto University Nano medicine Merger Education Unit from 2006-2010, and Director of Kyoto University Hospital Cancer Center from 2007-2009.


He had been chairman of board members of Japanese Society for Therapeutic Radiology and Oncology for 4 years since 2009. He is the President of Japanese Board of Cancer Therapy. He also is working for the board members of Japanese Society of Molecular Imaging and Japanese Association for Molecular Targeting Therapy of Cancer. He had worked as Editor-in-Chief for International Journal of Clinical Oncology for 6 years.



Dr. Hiraoka has been working for development of an innovative radiotherapy system (Vero4DRT) since 2000, and realized tumor tracking stereotactic body radiotherapy for lung cancer and intensity-modulated radiotherapy for pancreas cancer with real-time monitoring for the first time in the world. He has several awards and recognition to his name.
