ADDITIONAL ADMISSIONS TEST: WHAT ARE THEY AND WHAT ARE THE DEADLINES?
Students applying for very competitive courses will sometimes be required to take a test prior to being invited to interview. This mainly applies to medicine and Oxford/Cambridge courses but sometimes other students are asked to take a subject test. You should ensure you check whether these tests are/may be a requirement for you and make sure you familiarise yourself with the practice material and key dates over the summer. In most cases, you will need to register yourself but you may need to go through Mrs Sharp the school exams officer.
Most common tests (this list may not include every course so you should check yourself)
UKCAT – UK Clinical Aptitude Test – www.ukcat.ac.uk
Many medicine courses require this, you can register at any time from 1 May 2015 and must have registered by 22 September and have taken the test by 6 October 2015.
BMAT – Bio-medical admissions test
Other medicine courses and some related courses require this test. You must register between 1 September and 1 October via Mrs Sharp and the test will take place on 4 November 2015.
ELAT
Oxford University English test – for any course involving English at Oxford. You must register between 1 September and 15 October. The test will take place on 4 November 2015.
TSA
Oxford, Cambridge and UCL all have courses requiring this sort of test. Have a look on the website to see if your course is one of them. Dates as BMAT for Oxford, variable for Cambridge and UCL.
STEP
Mathematics at Cambridge, Warwick and others require this paper. These are not tests taken in advance but additional papers to be taken alongside your A levels in the summer. You will be advised if you need to be entered for these when you receive your offer.
LNAT – www.lnat.ac.uk
Entry test for Law, currently no information available on their site but they say the site will be operational from around mid July so make sure you check when it’s back.

If you have any questions about entry tests, see Mr Williamson or Mrs Smith.
